How it works
Even pace allocates time by distance. The negative plan ramps from 3% slower to 3% faster, then normalizes to your goal. Custom weights scale a reference race you supply. These plans do not predict individual race performance. The final split includes any remaining distance.
Build checkpoints for your target
Enter the total race distance, finish-time goal and distance between checkpoints. Select even pacing for proportional segment times, negative pacing for a gradual acceleration, or custom weights for a pattern you supply. If the final segment is shorter than the others, check its distance before comparing its time with a full segment.
Example: 200 m in 3:20
With 50 metre checkpoints and even pacing, a 200 metre goal of 3:20 gives four 50 second segments. The cumulative checkpoints are 0:50, 1:40, 2:30 and 3:20. Segment time is the duration of one part; cumulative time is what a continuously running stopwatch shows at that point.
Choose a useful pacing pattern
The negative option distributes more time to early segments and less to later ones while preserving the total goal. Custom weights are relative time shares: larger values allocate more time, and you need one positive value per segment. Neither option accounts for your individual starts, turns or fatigue. Use the plan as a reference, then compare actual equal-distance splits in the race review tool.
