How it works

Estimate equivalent times with LCM as the common reference. Stroke-specific turn allowances apply. Freestyle pairs: 500 yd ↔ 400 m, 1000 yd ↔ 800 m, 1650 yd ↔ 1500 m. Long-distance SCY–SCM is derived via LCM. These are planning estimates, not certified entry times. 100 IM supports SCY ↔ SCM only.

Match the source event first

Select the course in which the swim was recorded, the destination course, stroke and event. SCY means a 25 yard pool, SCM a 25 metre pool and LCM a 50 metre pool. Enter the recorded time only after checking the event list, since some event distances differ between yards and metres.

Example: 100 freestyle, SCM to LCM

For a 1:00.00 short-course metre 100 freestyle, this model adds 1.60 seconds and returns an estimated long-course time of 1:01.60. This illustrates the implemented turn allowance, not a promise about your next race. Selecting the same source and destination course returns the original time.

Understand the event pairs

Long freestyle uses corresponding events: 500 yards pairs with 400 metres, 1,000 yards with 800 metres, and 1,650 yards with 1,500 metres. These are event estimates rather than conversions of equal physical distances. Individual medley over 100 supports SCY and SCM only. Check the destination distance alongside the result, and consult the meet requirements before using any estimated time for an entry.
